English Department

Teaching and research in the Department of English Studies are concerned with the language, literatures and cultures of the Anglophone regions of the world. We are keen on linking Linguistics, Literary and Cultural Studies. Our language teaching also conforms with this integrative aim and includes cultural knowledge. Culturally aware Literary Studies regard literature as part of historical processes and shifts. The Department of English Studies is part of a network within the School of Humanities. Our English and American Studies section as well as Linguistics participate in the social and cultural studies programmes Transformation Studies and Gender Studies.
