Libor Mikeska
The author Libor Mikeska will give a reading on 3 June 2011, which will be chaired by Norbert Platz (University of Trier).
Born in 1967 (of Czech parents), Libor Mikeska first studied mathematics and then languages at Melbourne University in Australia. Since 1992 he has been teaching English (creative writing, translation, communication and rhetoric skills) at Saarland University in Germany (Institute of Translation and Interpreting and the university's Language Centre). He is also currently writing his PhD on the lesser known German authors stranded in Bohemia.
His interest in literature first emerged prior to leaving Australia, when he wrote a French play called Des Intellos Perturbés which was performed and well received at the Alliance Francaise in Melbourne in 1990 (Concours d’art dramatique, Sept 1990). In 2008 he began writing his first novel Neurotically Yours which was completed last year. Both are in search of a suitable publisher. He has also begun writing a second novel – it's actually what he enjoys doing most when not inundated with teaching duties.
