Broadly interested in matters of representation, national identity and subjectivity in literature and modern British culture. Past research and publications include espionage and the British Secret Service, British popular music, British national identity, and the politics of renewable energy in Britain. Current research project on the representation of Gypsies in literature. Founder and director of the English Theatre Workshop.
