A STAR IS BORN – Double Feature and Book Presentation
The new film series “Original & Remake” starts with two versions of A Star Is Born. The story of a young singer, who rises to fame with the help of a troubled musician whose own career falls apart, was filmed in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and most recently in 2018 with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the leading roles. To kick off the new film series, Kathleen Loock, Professor of American Studies and Media Studies at LUH, will give an introduction to the films and the practice of remaking films and will also present her new book Hollywood Remaking: How Film Remakes, Sequels, and Franchises Shape Industry and Culture (2024).
